VoiceTimer is a hands-free timer app that announces your time aloud. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app uses, where it stays, and what we never do.
📦 Data We Store Local only
VoiceTimer stores the following data exclusively on your device, using Android's local storage:
- Routines — the workout routines you create (name, exercises, durations)
- Session History — date, name, and duration of completed sessions
- Settings — your voice announcement preferences (interval, on/off toggle)
This data never leaves your device and is never uploaded to any server.
🚫 Data We Do NOT Collect
- No name, email, or account information
- No location data
- No microphone or camera access
- No device identifiers
- No analytics or usage tracking
- No advertising identifiers
- No crash reports sent to any server
🔔 Permissions Explained
VoiceTimer requests the following Android permissions and explains why:
- Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — to display the live timer in your notification bar while it runs in the background.
- Foreground Service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE) — to keep the timer running accurately when the app is minimized or the screen is locked.
- Wake Lock (WAKE_LOCK) — to prevent the phone's CPU from sleeping while a timer is active, ensuring accurate second-by-second counting.
- System Alert Window (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) — declared for potential future overlay functionality. Not actively used in the current version.
- Internet (INTERNET) — used only when you tap the "Buy Me a Coffee" button, which opens an external Gumroad link in your browser. No other network activity occurs.
🔊 Text-to-Speech
VoiceTimer uses Android's built-in Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine (powered by your device's system TTS, such as Google TTS) to read timer announcements aloud. No audio is recorded, transmitted, or stored by VoiceTimer.
☕ Third-Party Links
The app contains a link to Gumroad as a voluntary "Buy Me a Coffee" option. Tapping this link opens your browser and is subject to Gumroad's own privacy policy. VoiceTimer does not share any data with Gumroad.
👶 Children's Privacy
VoiceTimer does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app contains no account system, social features, or external communication.
💾 / 🗑️ Data Retention & Deletion
All data created by VoiceTimer (routines, session history, and settings) is stored exclusively on your device using Android's local storage. There is no server, cloud account, or external database involved.
- Retention: Data remains on your device for as long as the app is installed. It is never sent off-device and therefore never retained by us.
- Deletion — in-app: You can delete individual session history entries or routines directly inside the app at any time using the delete (trash) button on each item.
- Deletion — full reset: Uninstalling VoiceTimer from your device permanently removes all locally stored app data, including routines, history, and settings.
- Deletion — Android settings: You can also go to Settings → Apps → VoiceTimer → Storage → Clear Data to erase all app data without uninstalling.
